Day One

Day one of the Total Money Makeover.  I gave Dan the book by Dave Ramsey for Christmas and read it in just a couple days.  I learned so much.  Dan and I have decided we will not buy anything new in 2011.  It will be interesting to see how that goes this year.  I have figured out a budget and we will work through the "baby steps" from the book.

So yesterday, Dec. 31, I paid off our credit card bill.  The bill goes from mid-Nov. to mid-Dec.. We get the bill at the end of December and normally I would wait until it's due in mid-Jan. to pay it.  From now on, I will pay the bill as soon as it arrives.  No more paying for last month's stuff with this month's money.  Today I had to run to the store to get the communion elements for church.  Normally, I would pay with the credit card and shop around for other things to buy too.  Today, I bought only what I needed and paid in cash. 

I am excited about becoming purposeful with money.  I look forward to seeing God's hand at work in our finances.  "And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19
